(yea, I'm posting "Sunday's fabric a little early.)
I'm going to give you all a little insight in to the conversations at our house these days...
"Oh honey... we should go to Disneyland in February, so that we can get our $50 breakfasts." *
*We went to D-land for part of our honeymoon, and stayed in the Grand California Hotel, and ate at their buffet EVERY morning we were there, and still talk about it all the time.
"Oh... that sounds too good! You know I'm having a hard time here... why are you talking about French Toast, and syrup, and juice!?!"
------------
Take 2:
"Honey, guess what I want?"
"Sugar."
"yep."

Jay had made a resolution to go on a diet this year. I still haven't lost the Steiger weight, and think it would be a good idea to finally make a real effort before I add weight with #2 (which we're still working on). He's doing low-carb; I'm doing reduced-carb/no sugar.
We both miss sugar.
In good news though, he's lost 6 pounds, and I've lost 4... and sugar really isn't good for us anyway, so I think we'll keep going for now.
Oh, let me get to my point.
Though I have the ability to have many different projects going at once, I can only do one diet at a time. And for now, it's the food variety. (And I had some Christmas money).
These came in the mail this week (from Hawthorne Threads).
So I added some of my own to the pile...
...and got busy sewing with Aneela.
At this point, I had every intention of using ivory as my background, but this Moda Bella solid in Medium gray looked better. (I love this gray; I don't know if you can tell in the pictures, but it's a warm gray, and very pretty... I used it in Jay's quilt too.)
(I even did some of those curves without pins!). ;)
I made my first block.
And then I made my second.
And then I took them outside to so they'd have a proper picture.
10 to go!
Use the link above for all the information on making your own. I used freezer paper for my templates, and it worked great. :)
Thank you Aneela for a gorgeous design!
And Happy Dieting all... whatever form you have chosen. :)
Oh boy, dieting. My favorite. I too am wishing for that commitment! I love the gray with your fabrics. By the way the fabrics really look old fashioned and modern at the same time. Wonderful. Nasty old sugar. We don't want it anyway. I am thinking I'll have no sweets at all until February 14th. Then a beautiful piece of milk chocolate will be a true treat! Happy Weekend! Pam
ReplyDeleteTracey, I've never tried it, but I read once that if you were hungry for something sweet, eat something salty and it will cut the craving. It's worth a try! Good luck on your diet!!
ReplyDeleteBananas are my sweet food :) oh and yes baby weight is so *sigh* - it took me 9 months with #1 and 2 years with #2 to get back to my pre pregnancy weight. I finally achieved it in October last year and then came Christmas LOL so .. .. ..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pickle Dish blocks!
ReplyDeleteYou're too funny! But seriously, buying fabric is like an addiction. It's almost scary how exciting finding a new fabric shop can be, and buying a few yards.
ReplyDeleteAs for losing weight/exercise, it (stash acquisition) is a perfect reward! So go for it.
This is very nice.I have always admired wedding ring quilts
ReplyDeletelol! I really want to try and give up sugar, but I'm afraid I'll turn into a raving witch--can I at least put sugar in my coffee?
ReplyDeleteThe blocks look great! I can't wait to see the whole thing!
Oh for heaven's sake, how many projects can you do at once?? These new blocks are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSugar is really bad for my skin so periodically I go off it. The first week is awful, but then it gets easier and it does totally help you to lose weight. It really, really works. Pretty soon carrots will start tasting too sweet, you'll see!
those blocks are so pretty! The first conversation sounds a lot like our house. lol Just not for the sugar. We've been needing a trip to Disneyland. Still haven't been able to stay in the Grand Californian yet (but we really want to!). I think my Hunny and I will save that one for when we don't have 4 children tagging along. lol
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks... they are great! I have been lusting after that Grey Modern Flea Market fabric.
ReplyDeleteTracey,
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous! I love the background you choose.

oh, I do need to diet and am totally and completely resisting it. Know I can't do that for much longer.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric that you've chosen for the blocks. Aneela design is so clever!
Those blocks are beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteYour conversations made me think of the breakfast buffet when I was in Maui. Also, makes me want sugar...I'm trying to eat less of it but not doing very well. Four pounds is a lot! You must be doing it right!
Oh those blocks are beautiful! I love the patterna and the scrappy prints and the colors...well, it's going to be gorgeous! Love the gray too. I think I need to get some.
ReplyDeleteLove the pickledish blocks :D
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! Good luck with the diet, congrats for losing 4 pounds!! Can't wait to see the rest of this quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is going be a beauty. Trish
ReplyDeleteah ha ha :) I love conversations like that! My partner and I are about to move in together so I've put additional exercise on the menu for after the move!
ReplyDeleteOn that note, I'm going to go and have an orange. Much better than a brownie.... siiiiiigggh
Tracey,
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find a solid grey that looks good with the sunkissed line. Do you think this one looks good with it? I really need to get a color card from Moda...
