I feel I'm equal parts Denyse Schmidt, (purchased from thequiltedcastle.com)
As I am Fig Tree Quilts. (purchased from Burgundy Buttons)
Anyone else like me???
I am such a mix of traditional and modern...
I think I probably just haven't really decided on my *style* yet...
it's ever evolving.
I too am a mix...there are just some many beautiful and fun things to love. I think it is ok to like more than one style!
ReplyDeleteIt's more fun to work with different fabrics than the same all the time, I think. Like you, I'm drawn to the fun, clear colours of the new designers, but the soft palette and soothing patterns of many of the Moda romantics also appeal!
ReplyDeleteMe too! you can be both you know! Oh... sigh... I saw the fig tree layercake too... but got the hunky dory jellyroll as I needed that for a friend's quilt. Love all fig tree though!
ReplyDeleteWho said you have to be pigeon holed?
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
Eclectic is best!
ReplyDeleteOh, me, too! I love beautiful quilts and fabrics so much, both traditional and modern. It is good though, isn't it? I mean, would you want to only eat one kind of food, or listen to one kind of music or read only one kind of book? We need to rejoice that we can have so many interests in so many varied things! And as quilters, we can make the world a little more beautiful, one block at a time!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I don't think it is bad to like them all unless you have to decide what fabric to order for a quilt that is when it gets hard.
ReplyDeleteI havent really seen the fig tree one but I dont think I would buy it. I do like the bliss though :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all over the place too. But I'm like that with music too, there isn't all that many genres I can't enjoy at some point.
ReplyDeletei am so glad you don't fit in a box or category. does anyone??
ReplyDeleteif there's any category i fit in, it's the free category. :)
I'm there! Multiple fabric personalities
ReplyDeleteThat is totally me! I like modern, I like traditional. I can't make up my mind and I don't want to.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some Katie Jump Rope fabric at The Quilted Castle but some of the ones in your stack they didn't have anymore. You must have got there me before me. :)
Staying with one can be beautiful but boring. I like to mix things up - guess I'll never make a hit with anyone designer.
ReplyDeleteMarie
yup! all about my mood when i wake up :)
ReplyDeleteOur taste in fabrics can be just as eclectic as our taste in music. Who says we only have to like one style.
ReplyDeleteDoes it matter? As long as you love the fabric and the quilts that's all that matters!! Love them all!!
ReplyDeletePaulette
Um, I'll take one of each please :)
ReplyDeleteIt's called eclectic, Tracey! It means you can like anything you dang well please!!! (And it means there's so much more fabric you can add to your stash than someone who pigeonholes themself..... which means ..... Shopping!!)
ReplyDeleteEmbrace your eclecticism! I kind of like Kerry who called it Multiple Fabric Personalities (MFP)!!
I'm exactly like that. But I love the variety. I think we'd get bored if all of our projects were too similar in style.
ReplyDeleteAnd who says we can't have both!!? :)
ReplyDeleteSheilaC
Doesn't everyone always say "Mix the old (traditional) with the new!" I love them all too. Sometimes I'm in the mood for one and sometimes for the other, and when I can mix them both together I will totally do it. I have no shame with mixing lines and designers and generations at random. (And by random I still mean aesthetically pleasing. To me.)
ReplyDeleteWho says you have to have a style...it's more like a mood. Enjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteThose are both so beautiful! I have trouble finding fabrics I want to buy because I LOVE everything! You have to change it up a bit or else we might get bored and everything would look the same. hee!
ReplyDeleteI think that is your style. It's mine. I love to use bright, bright, bright. Then I need a little pastel. It's all beautiful and different quilts need different prints and colors.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm definitely far more modern. I guess it makes life easier to be one or the other! Juliex
ReplyDeleteI think thats the good thing about this love of ours. We can like and make whatever we want.
ReplyDeleteI am the very same way! I love a broad spectrum of fabrics, quilts and different types of patterns. I don't think it says anything about my style but my interest in exploring all the possibilities :-)
ReplyDeletePart of the fun for me is trying something new and different. Why box yourself in? Just play and have fun!
yup!! i have lots of DS & Fig Tree... on top of Tula Pink... Momo.. 3 Sisters... Lizzy House and more.. i like it all! ;-) especially orange.. but you know that!!
